The creation of the “Brilliant Butterflies” is part of a STEM unit that focuses on Khipu/Quipu. Khipus are recording devices fashioned from strings historically used by a number of cultures in the region of Andean South America. 

 

The goal for this project is to create a (virtual) book about communication, inclusion and diversity using a creative butterfly with colors, shapes and words.  

 

Due to the richness of core principles STEM and non-STEM educators are able to incorporate this activity in their lesson plan.
