Hedwig van der Laan is the owner of StudioHedwig, which she founded in 2016. She designs and creates handmade crocheted or knitted home-accessories. Using recycled or natural materials and creating long lasting products are Hedwig’s focal points. Her clientele consists of both private and corporate customers. Next to this, she designs and publishes crochet and knitting patterns for home deco items and bags for magazines and yarn manufacturers. For over 7 years, Hedwig was a R&D project manager for Sara Lee Household & Body Care Research. After that, Hedwig was a consultant on regulatory affairs for global companies, operational in cleaning products, car care products, cosmetics, biocides, and resins. She still works part time at the consultancy office.

 

Hedwig volunteered as a biology teacher and developed curriculum for gifted students (8-12 years), focusing on small-group teaching. Next to that, she volunteered as the Vice-Chair of a parent high school council in her community. She lives and works in the Netherlands.

 

Hedwig received her 2nd-degree teaching certification/degree in Biology and Chemistry, 1983, Utrecht and a post-HBO degree in Business Administration. In 2018, she received a degree as dress maker.
